In all cases, guidance provided in the Isometric Standard, Protocols and Modules is authoritative.

What is the site visit?

The site visit is a physical inspection of your project’s key locations, such as your production facility, farm, laboratory or storage site. Isometric appoints a third-party auditor, the Validation and Verification Body (VVB), to carry it out. Its purpose is to confirm that your project plan, your reported data and your infrastructure match real-world operations. A typical visit lasts one to two days per key location, but this varies with the pathway and the scope of your project.

When is a site visit required?

A site visit is a mandatory step in project Validation. It must happen before a project is Validated, and therefore before any certificates are issued. The VVB must see your project in a representative state. That means business-as-usual operations as they normally occur, for example feedstock preparation, data collection and standard production activity at your facility. The visit usually takes place after you submit your GHG statement. This allows the VVB to review your complete documentation first and build an accurate itinerary for the visit.

How long does the site visit stay valid?

The site visit is valid for the duration of your crediting period, unless your project changes materially. If your project does change significantly, the VVB confirms whether it needs an additional visit.

How is the site visit arranged?

Isometric arranges the VVB on your behalf, then introduces you once contracting is finalized. See VVB selection for the selection criteria.
1

Kick-off and planning

Isometric introduces you to the selected VVB. The VVB shares a Validation and Verification plan, and you agree on timing, documentation and logistics.
2

Audit and desk review

The VVB reviews your Project Design Document, MRV plan, LCA and supporting evidence.
3

Site visit

The VVB visits your key locations to verify data and processes in person.
4

Follow-ups

The VVB documents its feedback and findings and shares them with you for review and response, before it issues the final report.
5

Closing

Once all findings are resolved and the key documents are updated, the VVB submits a final report for Isometric to review. Isometric then validates the project and verifies the certificates.
