# Wallets

> How wallets group the certificates in your Registry account, which wallets you get by default, how organization admins create custom wallets, and how to move certificates between them

A wallet holds certificates in your Registry account. Keeping certificates in separate wallets makes it easier to see what is set aside for what.

Every certificate sits in exactly one wallet at a time. Your wallets and their balances are listed on the [Certificates page](https://registry.isometric.com/account/certificates), and deliveries, retirements and transfers each start by choosing the wallet to act from.

Every organization gets one or more default wallets. Organization admins can also create custom wallets and move certificates into them.

## Default wallets

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Supplier wallets" icon="tractor">
    Suppliers have two wallets by default.

    **General** receives the certificates issued to you by Isometric and any certificates another organization transfers to you. Most suppliers deliver from this wallet.

    **Spot** is where you manage certificates that are currently available for purchase. Move any certificates that are not already spoken for into this wallet.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Buyer wallets" icon="building">
    Buyers have one wallet by default.

    **General** receives the certificates delivered to you and any certificates another organization transfers to you. Until you create another wallet, everything you hold is here.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

Default wallets cannot be renamed or deleted.

## Custom wallets

Organization admins can create custom wallets, and how you group certificates is up to you. Common reasons to add one:

* **An end buyer you hold certificates for.** If you hold certificates for a specific buyer or group, wallets help you manage these certificates and make delivery or retirement easier.
* **A financial or compliance year.** A wallet per reporting year, e.g. `FY26`, records which certificates you intend to account for against which year's claim.
* **A grouping of your own.** A wallet per pathway, project or customer.

## Create a wallet

Organization admins can create as many wallets as they need.

  </Step>
</Steps>

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start a transfer">

    Choose the wallet to move certificates from, then the wallet to move them to. Only wallets your organization manages are listed, and a wallet with no certificates is not offered as a source.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the certificates">
    Enter the number of certificates to move. The oldest certificates are selected by default, or you can pick specific credit batches. You do not need to move a whole batch. If you enter a smaller quantity, the [batch is split](/user-guides/registry/key-registry-concepts#credit-batch-splitting).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and confirm">
    Check the details and click **Move certificates**. The move takes effect immediately.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Visibility and history

Wallets are private to your organization.

Each wallet has its own activity history covering issuances, deliveries, transfers, retirements and moves, with who acted and when. You can export it as CSV from the wallet's page. Deliveries, transfers and retirements are published to the public registry. Moves between your own wallets are not.
