# Account and access FAQs

> How to sign in to Isometric with Google, Microsoft or an email link, what to check when a sign-in link does not work, where to manage the users in your organization, how to give someone access to a single project, and what to check when a private consultation link does not let you comment

## How do I sign in to Isometric?

Isometric’s platforms use passwordless login. Choose one of three methods on the sign-in page:

* **Sign in with Google**, for a Google Workspace account.
* **Sign in with Microsoft**, for a Microsoft account.
* **Or sign in with your email**, which sends you a single-use sign-in link.

Use the same method every time. If you first signed up with Google or Microsoft, that is the method tied to your account.

## How do I add, edit or remove a team member?

Manage everyone in your organization on the [User management page](https://registry.isometric.com/account/settings/users) in Settings.

[User management](https://docs.isometric.com/user-guides/user-management.md) sets out each action step by step: adding a user, editing their details, and deleting their account.

## Why do I see "A user with this email address already exists"?

The user has already registered an Isometric account, either as an individual or under a different organization. An account belongs to one organization at a time, so a new invitation cannot be sent to that address.

[Contact support](https://docs.isometric.com/support/contact-support.md) and ask us to move the user's account to your organization. If a user needs access to multiple organization accounts, new accounts may need to be created with an email alias.

## How do I change my own or someone else's permissions?

Edit the user and change their role. A permission change is a change of role, and there is no separate permissions screen. See [User management](https://docs.isometric.com/user-guides/user-management.md).

Only a user whose own role permits team management can do this. If nobody in your organization can reach the [User management page](https://registry.isometric.com/account/settings/users), contact support.

## What are the different account roles?

There are four: Admin, Editor, Viewer and Custom access.

The role controls what a user can view and edit, whether they can manage the team, and whether they can deliver credits. [Account roles](https://docs.isometric.com/user-guides/account-roles.md) explains each role, and which one to choose for a new user.

## How do I give someone access to one project only?

Set their role to **Custom access**, then assign a role against each project you want them to see. Every other role is added to all of your projects automatically.

See [Project-level access](https://docs.isometric.com/user-guides/account-roles.md#project-level-access).

## My sign-in link does not work. What do I check?

Work through these two causes first. They explain almost every failed sign-in link.

**1. Check your spam or junk mailbox**

The email can be filtered. Search your spam or junk folder for a message from Isometric, and mark it as safe so future links reach your inbox.

**2. Make sure you clicked the newest link**

Each new link voids every earlier one so if you requested a second link, the first link will no longer work. Wait for the new email to arrive, then click the link in that message. Do not go back to an older email.

If both checks pass and the link still fails, [contact support](https://docs.isometric.com/support/contact-support.md). Tell us the email address you used and the time you requested the link.

## Why can I not sign in to my account?

Common error messages and remedies are listed below:

| Message | What to do |
| - | - |
| An account with this email already exists but uses a different sign in method | Sign in with the method you first signed up with, that is Google, Microsoft or email. |
| An account with this email already exists | Sign in with the email link, or with the SSO provider you first used. |
| The email address associated with this account is not verified | Most likely an issue for Microsoft SSO. Ask your internal IT team to mark your email address as verified, or use the sign in with the email link instead. |
| There was a problem signing you in | Check that you typed your email address correctly, then try again. |

If you have no account yet, an Admin in your organization must add you first. See [How do I add, edit or remove a team member?](#how-do-i-add-edit-or-remove-a-team-member) above.

## A private consultation link is not letting me comment. What should I check?

Confirm you are logged into the Registry with the exact email address that access was granted to. It will not work otherwise. If commenting fails only in specific chapters, please flag it and Isometric will investigate.
